Who We Are
Denali & Co. is a publishing company located in beautiful Traverse City, Michigan. The company was founded in 1998 by Kristen M. Hains.
Born with two severely lazy eyes, it was Kristen's forward-thinking optometrist who suggested to her parents that dance class might help correct her lack of hand-eye coordination. Not only did it turn out to be the perfect prescription for coordination, it also proved to be medicine for her soul. What followed were years of dance classes, community theater dance roles, stints as a choreographer, and ultimately a dance boutique of her own. After taking a break to raise her son, she’s once again rekindled her love of the dance.
Denali & Co. published its first title "Beauty is Therapy: Memories of the Traverse City State Hospital" in February 2001. The book spent more than 60 weeks on the region's best-seller list. We are also the publisher of seven coloring books. and recently expanded to include a line of custom dance items.
In May 2021, Denali and Co., obtained the published works of Eberly Press. Dr. Carole Mary Eberly, a graduate of Michigan State University's School of Journalism, began her career as a general assignment reporter at the Charlevoix Courier. She later became news editor for radio station WHMI in Howell before being hired as a state capital correspondent for United Press International, where she covered all branches of government for more than five years. Carole started Eberly Press in 1977 which published books filled with Michigan lore and recipes. She was awarded MSU's College of Communications Arts & Sciences Outstanding Alumni Award in 1981 and the National Federation of Press Women's Communicators of Achievement for 2006, the group's highest honor.
Denali and Co. is proud to be entrusted with Dr. Eberly's works and looks forward to shining a new spotlight on her collection of books.
